Retreats in the Carpathians for Journalists: Applications Open

Lviv Media Forum is opening applications for three retreats for Ukrainian journalists covering the war. The retreats are part of the Psychological Support Programme that the team has been running since 2022. Over the past four years, more than 380 Ukrainian media professionals have taken part in the retreats.

Who can apply

In 2026, retreats are open to Ukrainian media professionals — both staff journalists and freelancers — as well as fixers (local producers) who:

  • create content for Ukrainian and/or international media;
  • over the past year have regularly or continuously worked in frontline areas, combat zones, or covered the consequences of Russian attacks;
  • can confirm their experience with published work;
  • have not taken part in retreats organized by Lviv Media Forum or other organizations within the past year.

Selected participants will be able to travel to the Carpathians with a +1 — a child, partner, or colleague.

The program

The retreats are designed to give media professionals time for rest, recovery, and building connections with colleagues. We will take care of:

  • a trip from Lviv to the Carpathians and back;
  • comfortable accommodation in the Carpathians;
  • tasty, full-board meals;
  • a rich program including excursions, mountain walks, lectures, discussion clubs, and networking events with fellow media professionals.

Each retreat program lasts 8 days. Participants will receive the full program after the selection process is completed.

How to apply

To join the retreat, please fill out the application form.

The deadline is June 16, 2026 (23:59). You will receive a response at the email address you provided in the form.

The number of places is limited. The organizers reserve the right not to disclose the reasons for accepting or declining applications.
