Lviv Media Forum Accepts Applications for Strategic Media Support

Lviv Media Forum is accepting applications from Ukrainian media outlets for strategic support until 19 December 2025. Within this intake of our ongoing Strategic Media Support Program — this specific round is supported by UNESCO— we will select five editorial teams and help them implement their development plans, from expanding and improving sustainability to diversifying revenue and strengthening content quality.

Each selected newsroom will receive USD 6,000 of financial support.The project will run from January to June 2026.

Who can apply

Newsrooms that:

  • have a stable team or a strong core;
  • practice professional journalism, adhere to standards, and do not violate the Code of Ethics;
  • possess sufficient resources (staff, experience, competencies) to implement the project and report on it;
  • are focused on development, growth, and improving content quality;
  • are open to change and innovation, including through the involvement of external experts;
  • have a development strategy or are interested in creating one;
  • strive for financial independence or are working to diversify revenue streams.

What to include in the application

Media outlets must submit a description of the planned actions and changes their editorial team intends to implement between January and June 2026. The plan may include, for example:

  • long-term capacity development of the newsroom;
  • strengthening operational stability;
  • launching new formats or mastering technical platforms;
  • introducing innovations;
  • optimizing workflows;
  • audience development;
  • clear goals and measurable outcomes;
  • technical upgrades or other measures that increase the media outlet’s long-term sustainability;
  • or any other activities the newsroom aims to carry out within our project.

The plan must not duplicate other projects supported by UNESCO.

Each of the five selected media outlets will undergo a content audit, an assessment of operational gaps, and identification of strategic needs, which will help refine and adjust the action plan.
