Book Club Meeting: “Father” by Miljenko Jergović

We invite you to the next Book Club meeting, where we will discuss Father by Miljenko Jergović. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:00 PM at Lviv Media Hub.

The Book Club is organised by Lviv Media Forum in collaboration with the creative space KIVSH and the Choven Publishing House. This time, participants will explore Jergović’s Father — a powerful work of prose about the complex relationship between a father and a son, shaped by years of silence, misunderstanding, and unspoken emotions.

Set against the backdrop of the former Yugoslavia, the book weaves together personal memory and the broader historical context of the Balkans and its conflicts. At its core, the narrative draws on the author’s own family story, reflecting on guilt, inheritance, and the ways in which private lives intersect with the history of a country that no longer exists.

Mandatory reading excerpts from the book will be sent to all registered participants, though we encourage everyone to read the book in full.

The discussion will be moderated by Ihor Balynskyi, editor and co-founder of the Choven Publishing House and research analyst at Lviv Media Forum.

Venue: Lviv Media Hub (KIVSH creative space, 120h Shevchenka Street)

Participation requires prior registration via the link.

Ticket: UAH 250 (donation to the organisation’s charity fund).
