UNESCO provides Emergency Grants for Ukrainian Journalists
The organization will grant $600 each to 200 journalists to be able to continue their professional work.
UNESCO is providing emergency transfers to Ukrainian journalists who have found themselves in difficult situations due to the war in Ukraine so they can proceed with working and informing society independently.
The organization will award $600 to 200 applicants through a competitive selection process managed by Lviv Media Forum. The funds will be provided to the selected journalists via the World Food Programme.
Professional journalists, editors, and creative media professionals from various fields are eligible to apply if they:
Reside and work in Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
- Earn their livelihood primarily or exclusively through journalism.
- Adhere to the professional standards and Code of Ethics of Ukrainian journalists.
- Have faced difficulties due to the war in Ukraine or lack the resources to carry out professional plans that would result in socially significant media content.
- Consent to the processing of their personal data.
To apply, you need to fill out a form. The deadline is September 17, 2023, 23:59.
Applications will be reviewed in chronological order of submission by an independent selection committee. Lviv Media Forum will notify applicants of the selection results via e-mail. Instructions on how to obtain the funds will be provided by the World Food Programme via SMS.
The $600 emergency cash payment will be paid out through Western Union.
The UNESCO Emergency Grants for Ukrainian Journalists program aims to support Ukrainian journalists who are facing hardships, have lost sources of income, or lack resources to implement socially significant professional plans. The programme is made possible thanks to the generous support of the people of Japan.
Please note that registration does not guarantee participation in the programme. Organizers reserve the right to provide no explanations regarding the selection results.
