Book Club Anniversary: A Conversation on War, Humanity and Reporting with Wojciech Tochman

On Saturday, September 12, at 5:00 PM, we welcome you to Lviv Media Hub to celebrate the first anniversary of the Book Club, organised by Lviv Media Forum in collaboration with the creative space KIVSH and the Choven Publishing House. This time, we will be joined by Wojciech Tochman to discuss war, humanity, and reporting as a way of documenting lived experience.

Wojciech Tochman is one of Poland’s most prominent reporters, whose books have been translated into more than ten languages. Our conversation will focus on two of his books, Dolphins and Velzevul and You Ate Like a Stone. Both explore the experience of war: the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine and the 1992–1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the conversation, we will have a chance to learn more about Tochman’s experience as a reporter and discuss the subjects and questions he explores in his work.

We will send mandatory reading excerpts from both books to everyone who registers for the event.

The discussion will be moderated by Ihor Balynskyi, editor and co-founder of the Choven Publishing House and research analyst at Lviv Media Forum.

Venue: Lviv Media Hub (KIVSH creative space, 120h Shevchenka Street)

We will provide consecutive interpretation for the conversation with the author. Participation requires prior registration via the link.

Ticket: UAH 250 (donation to the organisation’s charity fund).
