Retreats in the Carpathians for Journalists: Applications Open
This October, we are opening applications for two retreats for Ukrainian media workers covering the war. Over the past four years, more than 380 journalists have taken part in the Carpathian residencies. The retreats are organized by the Lviv Media Forum team together with partners as part of the Psychological Support Program for Media.
Who can apply
In 2025, retreats are open to Ukrainian media workers — both staff journalists and freelancers — as well as fixers (local producers) who:
- create content for Ukrainian and/or international media;
- over the past year have regularly or continuously worked in frontline areas, combat zones, or covered the consequences of Russian attacks;
- can confirm their experience with published work;
- have not taken part in retreats organized by Lviv Media Forum or other organizations within the past year.
Selected participants will be able to travel to the Carpathians with a +1 — a child, partner, or colleague.
The program
The retreats are designed to give media professionals time for rest, recovery, and building connections with colleagues. We will take care of:
- travel to and from Lviv;
- comfortable accommodation in the Carpathians;
- tasty, full-board meals;
- a rich cultural program including excursions, mountain walks, lectures, discussion clubs, and networking events.
Each residency lasts 8 days. Participants will receive the full program after the selection is completed.
How to apply
To join the retreat, please fill out the application form.
The deadline is October 21, 2025 (23:59). You will receive a response at the email address you provided in the form.
The number of places is limited. The organizers reserve the right not to disclose reasons for accepting or declining applications.
