Donor support for media in Ukraine: discussion of the study with the Lviv Media Forum team

On 4 July, at 16:00, the Lviv Media Forum research team will gather representatives of Ukrainian media for an open discussion about the key findings and conclusions of the study "The Donor Landscape of Media Support in Ukraine”.

Registration is open here. You will receive a link to join by email. The event will be held in Zoom in Ukrainian, and the broadcast can be viewed on the Lviv Media Forum's Facebook page.

This study is an attempt to find out how this landscape functions, who the key players are, and what is missing for better interaction between stakeholders on both sides. The research team of Lviv Media Forum compiled a list of 130 media outlets that have received or are receiving grant support and 100 international and Ukrainian organisations that provide such support.

They were asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire. The questionnaire was answered by 62 media outlets and 28 donor organisations. The next stage of the study included three focus groups with media (one for regional, national and niche media) and in-depth interviews with representatives of ten donor organisations. The researchers also analysed donors' public financial reports.

"On 4 July, we invite you to discuss the findings of the study and think together about what the media can do to improve their interaction with donor organisations, plan their budgets more effectively and diversify their income.

Important: we want the conversation during the meeting to be really constructive and useful, so to improve the quality of the discussion, we ask you to prepare (yes, we are like your teachers before the colloquium) and read the text of the study or watch the video of the presentation during the X LMF," says Olha Bilousenko, Head of Research at Lviv Media Forum.
