Book Club Meeting: “Half of a Yellow Sun” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

We invite you to the next Book Club meeting, where we will discuss Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 20, at 5:00 PM at Lviv Media Hub.

The Book Club is organised by Lviv Media Forum in collaboration with the creative space KIVSH and the Choven Publishing House. This time, participants will explore Adichie’s novel Half of a Yellow Sun.

The discussion will focus on the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970). In her novel, Adichie addresses themes of class and racial inequality, colonialism, ethnic identity, and moral choice. While emotionally challenging, the book offers a profound portrayal of contemporary Africa and raises important questions that we will explore together during the meeting.

Mandatory reading excerpts from the book will be sent to all registered participants, though we encourage everyone to read the book in full.

The discussion will be moderated by Ihor Balynskyi, editor and co-founder of the Choven Publishing House and research analyst at Lviv Media Forum.

Venue: Lviv Media Hub (KIVSH creative space, 120h Shevchenka Street)

Participation requires prior registration via the link.

Ticket: UAH 250 (donation to the organisation’s charity fund).
