Book Club Meeting: Escape from Camp 14 by Blaine Harden

We invite you to the next Book Club meeting, where we will discuss Escape from Camp 14 by Blaine Harden. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 15, at 5:00 PM.

On Wednesday, July 15, at 5:00 PM, we welcome you to Lviv Media Hub for another Book Club meeting, organised by Lviv Media Forum in collaboration with the creative space KIVSH and the Choven Publishing House. This time, we will discuss Escape from Camp 14 by Blaine Harden.

This book tells the story of an unbreakable desire for freedom and a life beyond the chains of North Korea’s totalitarian regime. Escape from Camp 14 is not a work of fiction but the true story of Shin Dong-hyuk, who was born and raised in a prison camp before escaping both the camp and the country. The horrors of North Korea’s totalitarian system are difficult to comprehend, but during our discussion, we will delve into the country's modern history and reflect together on the issues that continue to resonate today.

We will send mandatory reading excerpts from the book to all participants who register for the event, though we encourage you to read the full book if possible.

The discussion will be moderated by Ihor Balynskyi, editor and co-founder of the Choven Publishing House and research analyst at Lviv Media Forum.
