AI Tools for Media Catalogue
The Research Department of the Lviv Media Forum has compiled over 150 AI-powered tools and created a comprehensive catalogue that brings together the tools themselves, up-to-date resources on AI use in the media, real-life examples from Ukrainian and international newsrooms, as well as key ethical protocols and guidelines.
The catalogue is freely accessible and designed with intuitive navigation. The tools are organised into four clusters:
- text-based tools — for generating, editing, summarising, fact-checking, and more;
- audio-focused tools — for analysing and interpreting audio materials, including speech recognition, audio and music generation;
- visual tools — for image generation, video editing, and data visualisation;
- multimedia tools — working across multiple formats (for example, video combined with subtitles).
Tools can be filtered by interface language (multilingual with or without Ukrainian, Ukrainian-only, or English-only) and by pricing model (free, freemium, or paid). Each tool description also includes information about its level of complexity and ease of use.
The platform also features additional resources to support the responsible and effective use of AI. The Knowledge Base offers a curated selection of up-to-date materials and research on the use of artificial intelligence in media and beyond. The Case Studies section brings together real-life examples of how AI tools are used in Ukrainian and international newsrooms. The Ethics section presents key ethical protocols, guidelines, and rules for AI use developed by governmental and educational institutions, think tanks, and technology companies.
The AI tools included in the catalogue can help media professionals streamline workflows, save time, and optimise resources. They can be used to:
- convert audio materials into text;
- generate headlines and summaries;
- translate content into multiple languages;
- process large datasets;
- create graphics or visualise data;
- edit photos, videos, and audio.
The platform was developed as part of the project “Strengthening Independent Media for a Strong Democratic Ukraine”, implemented by DW Akademie in cooperation with Lviv Media Forum and Suspilne Broadcasting, with financial support from the European Union. The project is also supported by IMS (International Media Support).
