Evgeny Afineevsky’s career began in 1994, when he actively coordinated and produced over 30 musicals in Israel, including Bat (Die Fledermaus), Gypsy Baron, Viennese Blood, Night in Venice, Silva Princess of Chardas, Mozart Konzerte with the Prague National Opera Orchestra and many others. He transitioned from live theater to film by directing the Israeli television series Days of Love while continuing as a Producer with Crime & Punishment (Crispin Glover, John Hurt, Clive Revil and Margot Kidder) distributed by MGM; Death Game (Billy Drago, Joe Lara, Richard Lynch and Bo Brown); and The Return from India (Aki Avni, Riki Gal, Assi Dayan, Dana Parnas and Orly Perl). Afineevsky made his feature film directorial debut with Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay! which won over 23 awards in the USA and abroad. Recently he directed “Divorce: Journey through the kid’s eyes” and award winning “Winter on Fire”.
Other awards include; the Israeli Grand from the Israeli Film Fund, and the Gold Special Jury Award from the 38th Annual Houston Worldfest for The Return from India (2002), the Platinum Remi Award from the 40th Annual Houston Worldfest for Crime & Punishment and the Platinum Remi Award from the 41st Annual Houston Worldfest for Death Game. the Gold Remi Award for Best Original Comedy Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay/Script of the Year award from the Monaco Charity Film Festival for Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay! Recently he gained Oscar nomination for the movie “Winter on Fire”, which also won best movie at the Toronto Film Festival.”
